Explosive Technology - Ottawa Firms Bomb Disposal Technology catches Attention of Westinghouse Terra Aerospace President Jeff Toycen announced today that Westinghouse Electric Corp of Huntsville, Alabama and Terra Aerospace Corp. of Ottawa, Ontario have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop and manufacture Hazardous duty robots designed to safely dispose of bombs and hazardous materials without risking lives. Terra attracted the attention of Westinghouse shortly after Westinghouse purchased Remotec Inc, a world leader in the robotics industry based in Oak Ridge TN. Terra Aerospace had completed several projects in conjunction with Remotec prior to the aquisition by Westinghouse.

The memorandum of understanding will combine the technology of Westinghouse, Remotec and Terra Aerospace to develop "next-generation" robotic vehicles for Canadian and International customers. Bob Kincade, Program Director for Westinghouse commented" This is not a case of the tail wagging the dog. They (Terra) are running the show. They know the product, the people...we have the technology to support that."
