Terra Aerospace / Westinghouse team lands DND Canada Robot tender
Terra Aerospace announced the Initial Canadian Sale and Delivery of the "HARE" robotic Vehicle. The HARE robot, sold to DND Canada for use by Explosive Disposal Personnel is based on a Westinghouse design, with major modifications and additional advanced handling and vision systems designed and manufactured by Terra Aerospace. This "New Generation" robot is the most advanced vehicle of its' type currently in production using highly advanced computer based technology to drive the highly advanced handling, vision and sensing systems. The initial order for the HARE robot was placed by the end user in early March, and required delivery within 30 days. Delivery on the complete HARE system, usually requiring 8 to 10 weeks was accomplished by the Westinghouse / Terra team within the required delivery period. The DND purchase may lead to the sale of a complete fleet of vehicles within the next several years, as DND Canada seeks to replace their aging fleet of robotic vehicles, which have become virtually unusable due to the lack of operating sophistication and capability.
